Dawda Jobarteh belongs to the new future generation of young powerful musicians in today's global world. Born in 1976, Dawda Jobarteh grew up in a Mandinka Griot traditional family. He inherited the musical profession from his grandfather Alhaji Bai Konteh, his two uncles Malamin Jobarteh and Dembo Konteh, and from his father Amadou Bansang Jobarteh. Personally invited by Peter Gabriel to tour on Womad around Europe in 1997, undoubtly not a bad choise, that led to contribution to great artist's concerts. Dawda Jobarteh has been playing internationally with distinguished musicians such as Tata Dinidin & Salaam Band, Pierre Dørge & New Jungle Orchestra, Youssef Latif, Wombat, Tchando, Moussa Diallo, Mikkel Nordsø, Palle Mikkelborg, Muktar Samba, Toumani Diabaté and Bassekou Kouyaté. Dawda Jobarteh has been selected to perform at Sauti za Busara music festival in Zanzibar 2010.
